If you want to keep the appearance of the stomp starter, it's possible to floor-mount a pushbutton starter switch for a tractor and adapt the stomper pedal to it. It can be made to look almost original. The switch will energize the solenoid of the V8 starter. I think somebody wrote a tech tip on that some time ago.
