Hi All,
I pulled the tank from my 1947 AD this afternoon to seal it. During cleaning, it became clear why the truck smelled when the tank was past half full - water was flowing out between the filler neck and the tank. The neck appears to be attached to the tank with two threaded studs with nuts. The leak seems to be at this interface.
I have not seen a gasket for this joint and the repro tanks seem to have the filler neck on them already
here and
here ; as opposed to the assembly seen on my truck.
So my questions are:
1) Has anyone seen a gasket for this interface?
2) In the absence of a gasket, what do you recommend? E.G. will POR-15 seal this gap?
