We wanted to recondition our '49 Burb to keep the original design philosophy with updates like disc brakes and a big 6 made for unleaded gas. I ended up with a Clifford Research 292 (4-bbl & headers) and Getrag 5-spd bought together for $2500. Looking around the web I find reference to 11 mpg being what to expect. Can anybody tell me what mileage they observed with a 292? Of course it's too late now to choose something else, but I would be interested to hear about other folks' observations regarding mileage and performance of the 292.
