To be clear, this is a very exciting project because lots of us have turn signals that do not self cancel. As stated, there are two types of modules available. One is based on time and has 3 user defined time settings. The other is based on movement. Both state a momentary switch is needed for Right and another for Left.
I am working (slowly since he is on vacation for 3 months) with the guy who created the motion one. But the timer one works like this... You push the button (or flip the switch) to begin the countdown timer which flashes the blinkers during the time interval. Since its momentary, there is no more voltage on the switch, so once the time interval is over, it shuts off. IF THIS WERE NOT MOMENTARY, as far as I can tell, the only adverse thing would be that it would restart the timer again causing an infinite loop. This would not work of course.
The point is, we need to figure out a way for the timer module to NOT reset until we flip our old fashioned turn signals to the Center or neutral. This is something we can overcome if we put our heads together. Anyone with any ideas, please say. We want this to be as easy to install as the turn signals were in the first place and be cost effective. Thanks for thinking about it, and I apologize for the sideshow.
