There is a "YouTube video" on how to adjust it. Your should have the holes in the shift arms at the column to find neutral. Tranny must be in neutral. Oh heck, just watch the video. Otherwise your problem could be the 2nd & 3rd gear synchro. Take a look at my posting in the mid sixties truck area. There is some info there. Good luck.
