Spool guns can be a pain, but they're about the only way to MIG aluminum. When I was a pipefitter/welder for Gallo Winery in Livingston California, we built most of the platforms and stairways around the plant and the storage tanks from aluminum, and we burned a LOT of wire through spool guns. Doing all of that with TIG would have taken far too long!
