Here are the oil filter port locations on the block of a 1954 235 engine.

I use a brass T joint at the input port on the oil filter (upper right port on the 54/55 canister).

F54X code (I do not know what your "3" designates).

The 216 and early 235 engines are not "splash oilers" -- this is a splash oiler.
