I have been searching the forum but haven't seen a reference to a transmission identification guide. My transmission cast numbers are 2 GM 59047 and stamped numbers GM 52408. The cover has cast numbers 590511 with a bow tie and a number 9 and what I believe is a date code of F177. I believe this is a 4-speed non syncro. My guess is that it is not original to my 1940 1/2 ton. I am wondering if a swap to an SM420 is doable and if so what issues will have to be overcome.
