It's very difficult to get a good weld on the rear axle pivots because there's rubber in there, and I believe those parts are cast steel, which does not weld well. There's a way to fabricate a bracket out of flat bar that wraps around the mount which makes welding a lot simpler, but the best bet is to use different spring mounts or an entirely different axle housing.
