I replaced the original wiper motor with an electric motor. My system had already been upgraded to 12v but as far as the switch goes it does not matter 6v or 12v. The switch will work with both. It is only a physical connection. There are no working electronics that could be damaged by increasing the voltage. If you are asking about the knob in order to keep the original look there is a set screw on the side of the switch knob that will allow you to install in on the new shaft of a new switch/motor.
