58 half-ton, 235 assembled and mounted on frame with driveline. I want to test run to see what I have before mounting cab, etc. Radiator mounted and plumbed, engine pre-oiled, all misc holes plugged, all fluids installed.
We're down to the electrical. Since there is no ignition switch yet, we have the battery + connected to proper post on the starter and - grounded to frame. I think I need a hot wire to the + side of the coil. Do I need to run this wire thru the resistor? Also the coil has an external capacitor--does it connect to the - post on the coil? I know I need another wire from the coil to the little terminal on the side of the distributor, and I think it's from the - side of the coil. Is this correct?
I have the wiring diagram which I'm not good at reading. Could someone please confirm or correct what I'm doing so I don't blow anything up? Thanks you.
