The gas tank on my 59 2 ton is directly behind my rear axle. It holds about 40 gallons and is the one american lafrance put on the chassis when they made it into a firetruck. I have removed the firetruck body and the chassis frame rails were shortened to accomodate the rear step of the fire body. With out a bed on this thing the gas tank is basically the rear bumper. It will be a while before I get the bed I want and for safety sake I feel like I should do something. Would you guys opt to put one behind the seat as it was originally, or would you put on of those that fit between the rear frame rails. I think they are geared toward pickups but the dimensions would work. Seems to me the easiest would be to go back original but never driven one with gas sloshing around behind the seat. Thoughts?
