I went to the Heritage Centre and found the link to the 1940 truck specifications. The interesting things is that their "Heavy Duty Trucks" only go up to 1 1/2 ton trucks with a a wheel base of 158 1/2 inches on page 8 Accessed April 4th 2016 from, https://www.gmheritagecenter.com/do...hevrolet-Trucks/1940-Chevrolet-Truck.pdf

I found a photograph of a similar truck to mine at the Australian War Memorial and it is identified as a Three Ton truck - G.S stands for General Service truck

On page 8 of the manual it does mention about dual wheels. Or was there another range of trucks that the Chevrolet manual from 1940 that was not listed on the GM-Heritage Site?

I cannot get to the wheelbase of my truck at the moment because there are layers of shed "stuff" arranged around it.

Or were there cross overs between the more heavy capacity trucks with the Chevrolet "Maple Leaf" series? Perhaps the knock-down version of engine, firewall and running gear that arrived in Australia to have a locally made cabin and tray assembled on it was manufactured in Canada?
