The pointed end of the tool goes into the groove in the molding and it opens up the molding to allow the seal strip to enter the molding. I mix up some dish soap with water in a spray bottle to act as a lube when installing the locking strip. It also helps if the sun has warmed up the molding to make it a little more flexiable.
