I would like to add some more info for kicks.....Your two basic Delco tags that were used in the 40s through the early 60s Chevys were black 6 volt red 12 volt just as mentioned above. The same black tag that was used on the 6 volt starters and generators was also the same black tag used on the Distributors regardless of 6 or 12 volt applications.
Also, your 72U number is a Delco reman number and those tags were completely different in design. 72U was the reman number issued to 1102744 generator that was your basic late 40s early 50s 6 volt 30 amp generator.
