Since I dont have one in hand, its a bit of a mystery to see it. I'm thinking that the back side (inside of the door) would be the half of the ferrule that actually spreads out to retain it in the hole,so which side should the tapered nut need to be on: the inside of the door pointing outward or from the outside pointing inward. I'm guessing you do not want to actually smash/bend the outside of the ferrule since it is visible? George
