This was done mostly in an attempt to increase oil flow to the rockers, (actually reduce the amount of oil being dumped out of the tube.)and won't hurt anything. These engines used an entirely different method and science of lubrication than you are used too. Even at work we have new centrifuges that use .06 cc's of oil every 2 1/2 minutes to lubricate an six inch or so roller bearing on a bowl that weighs 8700 lbs, and turns 2800 RPM. Lubrication is a weird thing....
