I just did some surgery to the beltline on my '40. I had some bubbling on it. Thought I had it all taken care of before priming but guess not. Anyway, I cut about 2/3'ds of the lower part across all the back. Geez, the whole space between the 2 pieces of metal was filled about solid with rust. I can tell you it is spot welded at 3" - 3 1/2" intervals.
