It prevents the glass from touching any metal as it goes up and down. This from a fellow Bolter may be helpful: http://www.alanhorvath.com/54chevy/windowfelts.phpThe rubber strip fits into a channel in the outer part of the door. Description does leave something to be desired. No vent window in your truck so some things are a bit different. But most will apply. Thanks to Allen for the tips.
