I will leave it in for now and talk to the machine shop further about this.
Since the block going in for cleaning, and inspection. If it fails inspection and can't be repair at a reasonable cost: problem solve !
If it passes then they (NAPA machine shop) may have access to the part.
Or use the method you described.

You can't see where your going, until you look where you been!
