Well I did all that and the shift rod (what slides forward and back and shifts the gears) will not fully slide forward (as if shifting into 2nd and 4th gears). I used the Camaro cover with the S10 rod and I know that the rod barely stays in the cover housing and sometimes pops out and comes loose, its like the rod isn't quite long enough. It needs another 1/2" length or so. Are the Camaro covers incompatible with the S10 shift rods?
