I have seen several posts inquiring how to remove the shift lever from an SM420. I thought that it might be helpful to post some pix of one that has been removed.
The pix show exploded view of the shift lever assembly. Understanding how it goes together makes it easy to grasp how to remove it...and how to install it.
The outer cover of the shift lever assembly has slots that go over the two pins on the top of the transmission housing where the shift lever enters the tranny. Pushing down on the outer cover compresses the spring and twisting locks/unlocks the lever.
