Hy Chuck malone, welcome, by what you wrote it looks like you really want a modern truck with an older style body on it. It would probably be easier to mount an old body on a more modern chassis with whatever running gear you prefer rather than make a lot of modifications to an older chassis that will take a lot of time and re-engineering. I realize this suggestion may sound harsh but I'm trying to be practical with my suggestions, hope that helps.
