The rear panel on my 55 donor cab (5 window)is not as good as the panel on the original 54 cab (3 window) and I am considering swapping the two. Has anyone ever tried to remove and replace this entire panel from the rear door pillars spot welds and rear vertical supports?

If I were to attempt this surgery;
1. Where would the best place be to make the upper horizontal cut? Lower belt line seam or above?
2. Is the rear panel secured to the three inside verticals by spot weld or adhesive?

I realize this is an ambitious endeavor and this is sort of my sanity check before I make the first cut.

I can attempt patch panel replacements in the lower middle and filler on the current panel but it really is gone in the middle bottom and the upper area below the window has the typical 2x4 custom body work features of a hard life.

The objective is for a very good driver quality truck not a show truck or to the nat restore.
