Here are locations of various engine codes. Post the codes you find on your engines and people here will help you ID your engine.
Do you have an engine with a 2 bolts through the top of the valve cover or 4-screws at the base of the valve cover?
I think 6-cylinder blocks up to around 1940 had 6 digit casting codes, but your numbers do not match the codes I have found on various casting-code lists. If the code you posted is an Engine Serial Number (a code pressed into the block), early Engine Serial Numbers usually had 7 digits until around 1940 (as Mike posted above,). After that, ESLs were a combination of numbers and letters.
You most likely have a replacement engine. Post the castings codes so that we can provide better advice/speculation.
