About 4 years ago, i was driving through Wisconsin enroute to the in-laws house when I saw a 1 ton 47-55.1 truck sitting on the side of the road that needed my love. When i talked to the mechanic, he wanted more then i was willing to pay for it by over $7K. That is where i can honestly say the 'bolt bug' bit me hard. I searched and searched until i finally found my truck. It is a 1951 Chevy 3100 (named Loretta after my grandmother). After buying my truck, I debated a long time on how I wanted to proceede with it. A major debate in my head started, do I want to hot rod it, restore it or must modify parts of it. After much debate, I realized that i could keep it stock with little touches that i would like to have for safety. I upgraded to front disc brakes, seatbelts and blinkers. The front axle was modified and given a 4" drop (3" blocks in the rear) by Sid's dropped Axle. The rest of the truck is staying stock minus one fender that needed to be replaced. In case you can't tell from the pictures, my little mechanic loves to help me and askes to go for a ride every day. We can't wait for the paint job to be finished so we can enjoy it together. The future plan is to get a second vehicle that will be all his and WE will build it together so he can learn. I figure it will not only give us more time together, but give him a respect for everything he has earned himself.
