The meter that Tim linked to is just fine and dandy for
anything that you will do on your truck, around the house or
shop.
I have about a dozen digital meters ranging from expensive
Fluke and Simpson meters to those cheap $5 jobs and the cheap
ones are just as reliable and plenty accurate for any job you
might have in mind.
I keep one of those $5 HF meters in several locations in the
barn, one in the basement shop, got one in the garage tool
box and keep one in a drawer in the kitchen for use in the
house.
And those $24 HF meters are comparable in function, resolution
and accuracy to the ones that I've paid hundreds of dollars
for and I've got several of them in various places also.
This is not to say that they are laboratory grade meters
that one would want to use in sensitive work, but they're
just fine for the average hobbyist.
