Coldrolled, I don't know what it is but there's one on eBay for cheap if you need a spare for parts. I bought two 3 speeds from same guy to replace the crash box in my 36. One had the case I needed, the other the tail I needed and hopefully whatever spare parts I might need down the road. I'm thinking of doing what others have suggested in this thread, replace some gaskets and put it in and see what it does. My crash box is a 590474 if I remember correctly it's a 1935.
