You are correct. The V6 gearing is really the only difference. There will be differences in the case design from year to year.
The case design changed a little over the years. I believe the 1993 S10 WC T5 case is the same as the 1992 Camaro WC T5. The S10 version just has a different tail stock.
So, I think the strongest S10 T5 is the 1993 version. It's the only year the S10 T5 was a WC and had a Muncie case design.
