I am certainly no expert in restomods, but to me it is a vehicle that is rebuilt to generally resemble the original vehicle and has had extensive modernization to the chassis and driveline.
Agreed resto, short for restoration, I assume, is a misnomer, but that is the phrase that has been coined nowadays for this type vehicle.
