I have a eaton 7.17 single speed rear end on my 59 8500. I have a top speed of about 40mph. I am not looking to burn up the road but I would like to be able to cruise at 55 - 60mph. I know I can look for anothe rear axle but I want know if it is possible to change the gears in the one I have to get a higher ratio? If so is it cost effective to do it and what would I need to do to get proper speedometer calibration. OR would some kind of add-on overdrive be better? I would like to hear what others have done.
