Continued cranking on 216 start up and no start. After fiddling around with feed and choke, no luck. Pulled the carb and serious pudding in the manifold base! Guessing a carb rebuild is in order. It was rebuilt about 10 years ago. Any thoughts, directions or inspired preaching?
Oh yes, mount gasket and spacer look fine. No tears.
