Very good advice. When I was doing my first truck, a 51 Chevy, a body shop friend suggested a mock up since I totaslly disassembled it.There was no rust repair necessary, but quite a bit of small dent removal on the fenders.I worked on the fenders in the basement during the winter, it's a good thing I did the mock up,my sheetmetal work changed the fender shape slightly, had to enlongate the bolt holes a little.I should have done the fenders on the truck so they would not distort slightly.I screwed up on the hood though, the nose was bent in slightly, and since I didn't check out the alignment with the grill in place, I had to bend out the nose after finish painting. Lucky for me the paint wasn't damaged during the "massage"
Even the doors, which didn't need any metal work, and fit well before taking them off, took a lot of time to re fit properly, darn things changed shape on their own I guess.
