I have just finished painting my chassis from behind the cab back, and it looks so nice now. I just used Rustoleum rusty metal primer and flat black topcoat, seems to work well so far. There were a couple of things I found that were interesting though: everything had hints of black on them except the axle housing, and it was red, and on the top leaf spring where it meets the shackle had some body color on it (Mariner Blue) the rest of the leaves had no color on them because they weren't protected by the grease

. I've poked around under the front as well, and noticed there is white on the inside of the front bumper, and there appears to be some kind of undercoating in places. This is peeling off in sheets, and I figure it is something a P/O put on it at some point. Also, while I was down there I was wondering what the colors are for the bottom of a '54 passenger car 235? The block appears to be sea foam green (blech) but mostly it is black from oil and grease

If anyone has some info on these things, I would be obliged.
