You're close. It's a 6 cylinder Vortec 4200. I do have a Colorado/Canyon 5 speed behind it.
To be quite honest the 5 cylinder would be a much better engine to swap. Eveything is really tight with the 4200. Knowing what I do now, I think I'd look for a wrecked Colorado/Canyon.
I'm going to have to trim the front crossmember slightly to make it work. If I had a 47-55 GMC, there wouldn't need to be any trimming done at all.
Also, the oil pan for the 4200 is going to need to be notched to clear the front axle. The way it looks, I don't think I'm going to have to convert it to a rear sump.
The upper coolant outlet on the engine is going to need to be shortened too. I'm hoping it's aluminum and not pot-metal so my Aluminum welder can shorten it.
