I've seen a couple sets of these in person, and there was a nice original GMC suburban at the Stovebolt Reunion a few years back. One would think that since 1963, and nearby years, are so "new" that SOMEONE would have the correct, definitive, answer!
and that is what makes them so neat to me, stories that nobody really can confirm or deny, and the fact that as these things get older, the more they will be shrouded in mystery and will one day be all but a lost legend that most will not know about.
