I am often asked what is the float setting for Zenith carburetors. The standard answer has been (and this is published in some Zenith literature) "if one installs a new float and new fuel valve, then the float is properly adjusted".

Was reading through some obscure confidential Zenith bulletins yesterday, and actually found some printed measurements for Zenith float settings. The ones normally used by members of this forum would be the downdraft series 23, series 28, and series 228 carburetors.

With the float closing the fuel valve, the distance from the BOTTOM of the float to the casting surface WITHOUT gasket:

23 series - 1 1/2 inches
28 series - see edit below

EDIT: the 1 21/64 previously posted should be 1 31/64.

This bulletin was written before the 228 series was released, so no additional information on the 228 series.

Jon.

The most expensive carburetor is the wrong one you attempt to modify.
