Not sure about the casting number source, but the same cam core might have been used for different grinds, so a casting number might not help with timing and lift numbers. Definitely "no" on the V8 lifters- - - -the stovebolt lifter is larger diameter and taller than the V8.

It only takes a little bit of setup with a degree wheel and a dial indicator to determine exactly what you have, in or out of the engine, no need to engage in a lot of guesswork about a cam!

Just remember if you're using a lathe or a set of V blocks to check the cam before installation, that one degree of cam rotation equals two crankshaft degrees.
