Ok, I have what might be a silly question. I need to replace the glass and weatherstripping for the vent window of my 59 Apache. I've read a bunch of previous posts about this topic and found A LOT of good information already (especially the tech tip article), which brings me to my question.

I've read a lot about the "pivot pin" in the top of the vent window assembly. Most people talked about having to either replace it or re-attach it some way. Is the pin attached in some way to the rivets that must be removed?

Why don't I just remove the assembly and look, you ask? This truck is my daily driver and I just want to be prepared so I'm not scrambling to close up a hole in my truck before it rains. I live in Washington State, by the way.

Anyway, any additional information is always appreciated, as well as, any tips from past vent window projects. Thanks a lot.
