3/16" is more standard for modern cars. That size tends to have a higher burst pressure, so it's used for disc brakes. 1/4" is fine for an all drum setup, but 3/16" works as well. If you want to use the brake lines you ordered, you should be able to find adapter fittings to make the 3/16" line work.
