| | | | Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 Cruising in the Passing Lane | | Cruising in the Passing Lane Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 | engine numbers were used most places as the title "vin" back then, so if you're talking about ownership history tracking, you're likely out of luck .... nothing on the frames in the 40's, the only other identification number of interest would be the factory serial and model ID number plate that should be on the pass side cowl under the hood, but that'll just confirm the year
