I saw chrome running boards on a 1951 Chevy 3100 that was for sale at a swap meet last year.
Just to be totally honest, they looked terrible. Too much chrome, it wasn't quality chrome, and it was obvious where the driver had stepped every time to get into the truck.
In my opinion, black is the color for running boards.
