Yes, sometimes blasting and powdercoat can cost less than blasting and just buying good quality primer and paint, not to mention spraying it.

I had my frame blasted one place (I forget where, nothing special either) and powder coated at a different place in WV, ASAP Powdercoat. In a somewhat recent coversation with the owner he mentioned a Mennonite guy who does sandblasting just down the road from him at a very reasonable rate.
