Ever see a set of points with no rubbing block? That is why. It is a cam and the rubbing block is the lifter. You can polish the rough spots with some 1000 grit paper. It won't change the shape unless you go crazy with it. Just smooth to the touch is good. I put a little grease on my finger, rub it with my thumb. Take most off the finger and thumb with a paper towel. And rub the finger and thumb on the cam. That is all it takes.
