If you are rebuilding a 1 ton with a regular long box then the front panel lip sits on top of the boards (if I'm wrong 'bolters please correct me). The bedside angle strip sits on top of the boards.
The rear end of the boards sit up on top of the lower lip of the rear cross sill.
