You do not need to grind the rivets unless you need to replace the drum. I don't know just how much experience you have with the old style packable bearings, but taking them apart is going to be the easy way to do it. Here's the
manual page that explains the procedure. Once you have the drum/hub removed, you can drive out and install the new one just like you would on a late model vehicle.
