Recently I have seen walnut shells and baking soda as blast media. Also there are different grades of blast media to address the type of material you are removing and the type and thickness of the material it is attached to, ie steel, aluminum, stainless, plastic etc. Check Eastwood's online catalog. I just received their spring catalog and it had a lot of information regarding blasting equipment and blast media.
