Now that you know the correct way to set your glass, here's another way that will work . Clean the mating surfaces of the track and glass completely ending with laquer thinner. Use any color of silicone caulk you prefer for "glue" , let it cure, trim excess with a utility knife, and the glass is set. Silicone caulk bonds well to both glass and metal as long as they are clean. As an example fish tanks are put together using clear silicone.
