The 194/230/250/292 engine series are different than the 216/235 or whatever you currently have. It can be done however, with some modification. You will need the stick shift bellhousing from the 250 (same as a V-8) which can be used with your stock transmission. The 250 truck bellhousing has different mount locations than your 49. Some have used the crossmember from a 54 which can be used with the later bellhousing. The front mounts are also different. There are aftermarket front (side of engine) tubular crossmembers available for V-8 conversions. One of these could likely be used for the conversions. Or you could manufacture a front mount. Nothing is easy, there are no direct bolt in's except the stock equipment.
