Guys n Gals, I've been working with an older Gent for almost 30yrs on his older vehicles and to make a long story short, he forgot to put anti-freeze in his '52 6cyl and cracked the block right above the oil pan rail.
He's 86 and just can't go to a pull a part for another engine. (we've been making 1 good convertible from 3 different chevy's)
So, that's where I come in. I'm trying to locate another whole motor or block to replace his 6cyl. (its' either a 216 or a 235) and one of my buds is stripping over 25 boats and has several Marine 6cyl motors for sale.

Does anyone know if the boat motors can be used as a swap into a early 50's car?
I'm just concerned him getting taken by some "yard" with a pile of s-crap. AND of course, I'll be the one doing most of the work..
I can get one of those boat motors cheap, but don't want to make more work for us. He's a feisty ol guy but the 'clock's a tickin' if you know what I mean.
Also don't want him to be discouraged and just quit..

OH, and please respond with good facts and or in-depth experience with swapping these motors. "yep or nope" just doesn't really help anyone for that matter. I've been told they will work but again, not a whole lot from that. (I.E.- Marine applications don't have _____ cast into them.
OR, Water pump's bolt up differently and you need ______ to make it work. Or Marine motors need to have the crank drilled for pilot bearing..
THAT type of stuff.
ALSO, if you might have one (car motor) for sale CLOSE to the Memphis Tn area, let me know.
Thanks for the help.
